for photography enthusiasts around Crawley, West Sussex

Many of us want to capture that special moment with a camera. Whether it is about recording a memory or being challenged to be creative, photography is a fulfilling pastime that is accessible to anyone with any type of camera.

We often start with grand landscapes, seascape, skyscapes, cityscapes and other “scapes” – and learn that it is about capturing the “light” not just the “sight” that makes an image impactful, interesting and appealing.

We might then choose to play with desktop photography – closing in on small shapes, colours, patterns and textures such as bubbles in a shampoo bottle – or more abstract painting with light.

“People” photography can be highly rewarding – whether as part of sport or other activities, candid shots on the “street” or studio portraiture.

Whatever your photographic interests – and there are more subjects and genres to inspire everyone – understanding, controlling, experimenting with light enhances your images. Learning with others provides new ideas and inspiration, new techniques and tools, new insights and feedback.

Join us to learn, improve and share your photography. The focus is on your images rather than the camera. We usually meet 1-2 times a week throughout the year both online (particularly in winter) and in-person at our club premises near Tilgate Park. Join us at any time and for as many or few activities as you want (eg online talks from around the UK and overseas, friendly competitions and challenges, workshops, studio photography, etc). Bring your own interests and skills to share with others – or get involved at whatever level of experience you are comfortable.
